The Brief and Only Backyard Party Planning Checklist You’ll Ever Need

The Brief and Only Backyard Party Planning Checklist You’ll Ever Need

Did you know that event planning is one of the most stressful jobs in the world? And we’re talking about professionals who are trained and experienced!

Chances are, you’re just an average Joe who doesn’t have professional training, so this means the stress of party planning can be exponentially heavier for you.

Luckily, we’re here to help! Here’s a brief party checklist for your next big backyard event.

Food and Drinks

One of the first things you want to think of is if you need food and drinks. For a party that lasts over a few hours, this is a must. Otherwise, your guests will get tired and cranky without these party essentials.

Think about whether you want to get food and drinks catered or if you can purchase all of this on your own. For example, you might want to go to Costco for a small children’s party, but if it’s your parents’ 30th wedding anniversary party, then you should probably have better food catered.

Sure, you can host a family get-together in your backyard, especially if you have plenty of space. But that doesn’t just mean you should set up some chairs and tables, then call it a day.

Staging is extremely important, as it sets the tone for the big day. You’ll most likely have a theme for the bash, so think about having a staging area at the front of your house. That way, your guests will be hyped from the moment they arrive!

Decorate your house, chairs, tables, and fence with themed streamers, small decorations, tablecloths, etc. For instance, if your 10-year-old daughter is having a mermaid-themed birthday party, buy decorations in green and blue and scatter seashells on the tables. You can even get cardboard cutouts of Ariel to put around your yard!

You can get a great venue with plenty of food and drinks, but your party will be boring without some entertainment. So think about what would be appropriate for the event to put on the best party ever!

For example, if it’s your best friend’s bachelorette party, you can get a mechanical bull rental. After a few drinks, everyone’s sure to get rowdy on this fun ride!

Or if it’s your child’s 7th birthday party, you can rent a bouncy castle. Your kid will definitely be the most popular child in school if you do!

Whatever event you’re hosting, make sure that you have enough entertainment to interest everyone and keep them amused for the entire time. Otherwise, you’ll have some people twiddling their thumbs.
